The Context

We took over the Client’s site calibrations in 2017 which consisted of 5 days onsite annually. Since then our presence on site has increased as we now not only perform the annual calibrations but also respond to any fault-finding issues on site. Last year the Service Department completed 21 days on site ensuring any of the Client’s requests were met to a satisfactory outcome.

A professional calibration plan to be implemented. A reliable service department who responded to any Client’s requests in a timely manner. Provide highly experienced Technicians who would not only perform calibrations on site but also perform any required fault-finding.

We were chosen by the client as they required a reliable, professional and knowledgeable calibration provider who could take over their site calibrations without any issues. Once on site we were able to start building a trusting relationship with Carbon and our attention to detail and work ethic was visible for all to see.

Bonner’s Service Manager took the initial lead role completing site management meetings and a site survey. Our team of experienced Instrumentation & Control Technicians were then scheduled to the Carbon site.

Bonner’s Service Manager remained in close contact with the Engineering Department to ensure the site was managed professionally and ensuring the Client’s needs were always at the forefront of the Bonner Service Team.

The Response

We performed the annual onsite calibrations, gathered all the data and uploaded the Client’s Instrument database to our Calibration Management software system ProCal V5. We could now provide Carbon with electronic calibration certificates, calibration completed reports and Instrument due reports. We also stored all this data on our secure online system called Smartvault which they could then use to view or download if needed.

We started off initially performing 5 days on site to complete the annual calibrations. As the Client added new manufacturing areas or systems to the site we then took over the additional calibrations. We now perform 11 days on site annually calibrating all site Instruments and additional days throughout the year as required.

One of the main challenges was ensuring that we got Carbon to a place swiftly where they were Audit ready all year round. There was also the challenge of completing all Instrumentation fault-finding activities in a timely and professional manner and to the satisfaction of our Client.

The Results

The calibrations we performed were all traceable to National standards using Bonner Test Equipment that is ISO17025 certified annually. Electronic calibration certificates were then issued using our Calibration Management Software which captured the calibration results.

Recommended maintenance procedures or actions to address under-performing or out of tolerance were also recorded in an electronic service report and discussed with the Client. Once we had all the Clients data stored on our systems they no longer needed to worry about any issues arising with their calibrations on site.

Carbon Group now enjoys the support Bonner provides to the quality compliance of their site and for this reason Bonner has remained Carbon Group’s Calibration & Instrumentation supplier since we took over in 2017.
